Agricultural Property Tax Exemptions Through Beekeeping
We manage the hives. You enjoy the benefits.
Put your land to work with Aledo Apiary’s managed beekeeping service. We help property owners establish and maintain honey bee colonies while navigating the requirements for agricultural property tax valuation—commonly called an “ag exemption.”
From hive installation to ongoing care and application support, we handle the details so you can enjoy having bees on your property without becoming a beekeeper yourself.
Our Services Include:
● Property assessment: Review your acreage, agricultural-use history, and local appraisal district requirements.
● Hive setup: Install and place honey bee colonies in suitable locations on your land.
● Ongoing maintenance: Provide routine inspections, colony care, and seasonal hive management.
● Ag exemption support: Help prepare applications, maintain beekeeping records, and coordinate documentation requested by your appraisal district.
How does it work?
Qualifying agricultural land is appraised based on its productivity value rather than its market value, which can reduce property taxes on eligible acreage. In Texas, beekeeping can qualify on 5–20 acres of land used for that purpose, subject to agricultural-use history and local requirements.
Whether you’re maintaining an existing agricultural valuation or working toward future eligibility, we’ll help you understand the next steps.
Support pollinators. Put your acreage to work. Leave the hive care to us.

Eligibility and approval are determined by your county appraisal district. Installing hives alone does not establish immediate qualification.
